MATHEMATICS DAYS

A programme of practical mathematics and puzzles will be presented to year groups during the day which hopefully will enthuse their interest in mathematics. For the younger age group the sessions will be about 60 minutes rising to 90 minutes for the Year 7 and 8s. The theme and format of the days will be negotiated between school and organiser.

  • Suitability: Internal event but visiting schools would be most welcome
  • Year group: Years 3 - 8 - up to 40 pupils in each session
  • Host's commitment: To provide appropriate accommodation, a public address system, a digital projector.
  • Organiser's commitment: To provide all the materials for the competitors.

MATHEMATICS MASTER CLASSES

Weekly 90 minute workshops for talented mathematicians covering a theme during each session. Past subjects included: beautiful shape, traditional games, mathematics magic, prime numbers at large, amazing mazes.

  • Suitability: Inter school event for up to 24 pupils
  • Year group: Year 5
  • Host's commitment: To provide appropriate accommodation, a public address system, a digital projector and refreshments at the end of each session.
  • Organiser's commitment: To invite schools to the event; to provide all the materials for the competitors.
